Web 2.0! What does it means? is it important to you?
Over the past couple of months, I have been seeing a lot people using the term web 2.0 on blogs, forums and sites. I really didn’t have a clue what they were talking about. What does web 2.0 have to do with the business that I am in today, I wondered. So today I decided to do a search to see what web 2.0 was about and this is what I found. Web 2.0, a phrase coined by O’Reilly Media in 2004,[1] refers to a perceived or proposed second generation of Internet-based services—such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies—that emphasize online collaboration and sharing among users. O’Reilly Media, in collaboration with MediaLive International, used the phrase as a title for a series of conferences, and since 2004 certain technical and marketing communities have adopted and loosely adapted the phrase.
